My Work

Building the Collection

Customizing models became an important part of building Fornari Passione Rossa. Some projects were created for my own collection, while others were sold and the proceeds reinvested in new acquisitions. In this way, my custom work helped finance the collection’s continued growth.
The Work

When the Model Did Not Exist, I Built It.

Many historically interesting cars were simply unavailable in 1:18 scale. Rather than accept that limitation, I began using existing models as a starting point and transforming them into specific cars, liveries and configurations that had actually existed. The objective was never to create something imaginary; it was exactly the opposite: to reproduce a real car as accurately as possible.

Scuderia Ferrari Alfa Romeo — 1930–1937

One of the most important areas of this work has been the recreation of Alfa Romeo cars raced by Scuderia Ferrari during the pre-war period. Existing Bburago models provided the starting point for conversions into specific cars and race configurations that were otherwise unavailable for the collection.

Ferrari Customs

Ferrari projects focused mainly on Formula 1 cars that were unavailable in the exact versions needed for the collection. Existing models were transformed to reproduce specific cars, drivers, numbers and race configurations. The work involved modifying liveries, decals and other details so each model represented a real Formula 1 car with its own identity and place in Ferrari history.

Beyond Racing

The same approach was also applied to other cars that interested me: Fangio Mercedes, Batmobiles and other special project cars that became part of automotive culture. The subject could change, but the principle remained the same: begin with an existing model and transform it into a specific car with its own identity and story.

From One Model to the Next

One Model Helped Pay for the Next.

I never saw this work as something completely separate from the collection. The models I sold helped finance other models I wanted to acquire, allowing Fornari Passione Rossa to continue growing.

Not just a model. The car.
