Unique and exclusive models

The 1951 Syracuse Grand Prix was a non-championship Formula One motor race held in Syracuse, Sicily on 11 March 1951. Dorino Serafini in his only F1 race racing for Scuderia Ferrari finished 2nd, behind team mate Luigi Villoresi.

The 212 F1 was a model made for private team, but this is the only race where it was entered by the Scuderia Ferrari. This is a unique 1/18 model I have commissioned to have it in my collection.

Dorino Serafini had only a short automotive career, marked by two major accidents.

In 1950, he managed to get hired by Enzo Ferrari. Still racing in Formula 2, he managed to clinch the first podium of his career at the Monza autodrome, then at the Geneva Grand Prix.

In September, he is again in Monza to compete in what will be his only F1 Grand Prix in the world championship. Starting from sixth place on the starting grid, he managed to climb up to third position, before he had to hand over the wheel to Alberto Ascari. The latter overtook the Alfa Romeo of Luigi Fagioli three laps later and finished second. A second place also awarded to Dorino.

He placed in this same position at the Circuito del Garda and the non-championship F1 race at Penya Rhin. The following season also started ideally, with another second place in Syracuse, then in San Remo, before being the victim of another accident during the Mille Miglia. Dorino will take the wheel only once in competition, during the Brescia-Rome-Brescia race, with a seventh place in the race, and victory in his category.
