Time to remember the FIRST FERRARI milestone in F1. On July 14 1951, The Argentine Froilán Gonzalez gave Ferrari the FIRST F1 win in history wining the British GP with this 375 F1.
Two Ferraris (Gonzalez and Ascari) and Two Alfa Romeo (Fangio and Farina) started in the first line. Except for the first lap, the two Argentines led the rest of the race in turns in an epic fight. Only on lap 50 “El Cabezón” took the lead and led until wining in lap 80.
Froilán Gonzalez, together with Stirling Moss were legendary drivers in the early years of F1 that should have become World Champions, but they were unlucky to compete with giants as Fangio, Farina, Ascari, Hawthorn and Brabham…all World Champions of that era.
