On January  22nd, 1956, Juan Manuel Fangio ( at that time, 3 times World Champion with Alfa Romeo and Mercedes) debuted with Ferrari in the GP of Argentina. He made the pole position followed by the two other Ferraris of Castellotti and Musso. Surprisingly, in race, the Maseratis of two Argentines, Frolian Gonzales and Carlos Menditeguy took the lead in the first lap. Menditeguy kept the lead for half of the race until Moss took the lead. On lap 30th Ferrari ordered Musso (then in 5th position) to stop and give his car to Fangio (whose Ferrari had problems). That was permitted in those days. Fangio advanced progressively until surpassing Moss on lap 67th and win his first race with this Ferrari D50.
