This is the first Ferrari with rear Engine. Enzo did not like the idea (The horses pull the carriage, not push them"), but the sucess of the new British rear engine cars convinced him to change. Still, the 256 with Front engine was the most used models raced in 1960. This is the car that Richie Ginther race at Monaca on May, 29th, 1960, finishing 6th.

Richie Ginther was born in Hollywood, CA in 1930. He was drafted for two years of national service during the Korean War. During this time, he received training and experience working in aircraft and engine mechanics. He races sport cars (Sebring, Le Mans) before arriving at F1. Ginther made his F1 debut at the 1960 Monaco Grand Prix driving for Ferrari, which he stayed with through 1961. In the September 1960 Italian Grand Prix in Monza, he placed second to Hill. Ginther led from the start until the 25th lap when Hill passed him and led until the finish. He continue racing in F1 with BRM and Honda until 1966. He raced at Le Mans again in 1971.
